Editor’s Take: Novel cell therapy development expertise can be useful to companies looking for scalable, GMP-ready manufacturing.
NueCell Bio has launched, calling itself a cell therapy science and development services company using proprietary modular translational development solutions. Headquartered in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego, NueCell Bio operates in a 26,300-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility.
The company intends to focus on advancing modern cell therapies from scientific discovery through clinical readiness. Ultimately, NueCell Bio will act as a specialist partner with a unique niche in advancing and accelerating cell-based treatments.
To do this, NueCell Bio’s team expertise is diverse and, the company says, unprecedented in the field of advanced therapies. Its broad spectrum of scientific knowledge includes chimeric antigen receptor T-cells (CAR-T) and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived therapies. Stem cells in general, gene-edited cells, and tissue repair platforms are also areas of focus.
This knowledge base supports both autologous and allogeneic products, and backs customers developing a range of novel cell therapies. NueCell Bio says it can offer customizable modular technologies to engineer cells. Additionally, the company is able to assist in development of scalable, good manufacturing practice (GMP)-ready manufacturing processes and analytics.
NueCell Bio Board Chair and Co-Founder Richard Snyder, PhD, said he is “incredibly excited” about the company’s “extraordinary” leadership caliber.
“NueCell Bio is distinctively positioned to advance cell therapies from early discovery through clinical development,” Co-Founder/CSO Uma Lakshmipathy, PhD, added. “The scientific, analytical, and development challenges that create risk for one company may be very different for another. Our role is to understand where each program is, identify what is needed to move it forward, and apply expertise.”
